Even if you were just running a personal blog where you’ll be having the odd conversation or pressing an occasional article on something of interest in your life, you still need to have some form of regular traffic on your personal website. Otherwise, what is the point? You would really be wasting your time. After you have published your online article, no-one is reading it. The sense of urgency that is needed to drive traffic to your website is even more significant if you just happen to be starting a small business of your own.
Otherwise, what is the point? Not doing your homework, not doing your necessary research and development and due diligence leaves you stranded and, quite literally, empty handed. You will have no new business and therefore, you will have no regular stream of income. You will also have lost revenue because whatever you decided to pump into your business development without much commercial thought will never be recouped.
Part of your business development expense needs to be directed at employing the services of a consummate web traffic manager, administrator and/or builder. You do not need to heavily rely on him in the sense that you will be paying heavily for his services. You could just as well employ him on a contractual basis from quarter to quarter. It will be practical in the long-run. This IT expert would also need to be willing to impart some of his own knowledge alongside the necessary advice on managing your website regularly.
On that last requirement, he should be prepared to patiently teach you this. Otherwise, what is the point? How will you know when traffic is flagging and how will you know how to respond positively to this?
